During the day/evening/night I’m a postdoctoral researcher who studies explosive volcanic eruptions (the bigger eruption, the better) which means I am either doing fieldwork (i.e., digging holes and collecting rocks), in the lab analyzing samples, in my office interpreting data, or writing manuscripts and funding applications trying to convince everyone else that my research is the best thing since sliced bread.

The rest of the time you can probably find me reading a book, at the library borrowing more books, or at the bookstore wishing I could afford more books. Or I’m out walking, trying to clear my head while listening to an audiobook. If I’m not listening to a book, I’m listening to music. I don’t function without books or music. (Or tea.)

Occasionally you’ll find me attempting to recreate amazing food I’ve seen on pinterest, feeling crafty (often also inspired by pinterest), or watching movies.

I’ve been blogging on and off for over 10 years, but started marelden in April 2013. I (obviously) write mostly about literature, but occasionally I write about all the other things I obsess over. Like lists and music and random projects and food (especially cheese and the fact that I cannot eat gluten) and stationary and spreadsheets. Or any other things I feel like writing about.

If you want to get to know me better, the following posts pretty much tell you everything you need to know, like
+ how I’m obsessed with pens
+ how I have the most amazing sister
+ how my thought process often isn’t straight forward
+ how I’m always searching for a patch of greener grass

Or you can just do the short version: the ten most important things about me.
