Semi-Charmed Winter 2015 Book Challenge (Month 2)

January 6, 2016 | No comments

We’re now two months into the semi-charmed book challenge (hosted by Megan). I’ve finished 3 more tasks, for a total of 9 tasks.

10 points | Read a book that someone else has already used for the challenge

The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes.
Paperback, 544 pages ★★★ (Read December 24)

This historical fiction consists of two parallell stories, linked by a painting of a woman. It was read by Julia Lammert in November for the task read a book with “boy,” “girl,” “man” or “woman” in the title.

20 points | Read a book with a person’s first and last name in the title

The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
Kindle, 400 pages ★★★ (Read January 4-6)

This is a quite slow moving thriller about a man named Harry August, whose life starts over each time he dies. It sounded like a very intriguing story, but it was mostly weird (in a good way).

30 points | Read two books with the same title (by different authors)

Fear the Dark by Kay Hooper
Hardcover, 288 pages ★★★ (Read November 15)

In the 16th installment of the Special Crimes Unit, four of the agents go to the small mountain town of Serenity, Tennessee, to investigate the disappearance of five men and women and most recent, a child.

Fear the Dark by Chris Mooney
Kindle, 477 pages ★★★★ (Read December 13-14)

Forensic investigator and serial killer expert Darby McCormick goes to a small town in Colorado to investigate a murderer that targets entire families in their own homes.

I have three tasks left: 1) to read a book that has between 100 and 200 pages, 2) to read a book published under a pseudonym and 2) to read a nonfiction book and a fiction book about the same subject. Any suggestions?
