Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts #34

December 3, 2015 | No comments

1. It’s finally December! Bring on the Christmas decorations and music! I strictly adhere to the rule “Christmas season starts December 1” but once December is here, I go all out. I’m always trying to make the perfect holiday playlist, but the ones from last year (here, here, and here) are also on repeat.

2. When I was preparing for my PhD defense, I gave up any attempts at keeping up with my healthy habits. I have no excuses now, so it’s time to get started again. First step: I’m trying to go a full week without candy or ice cream. Four days in and I’m already tempted to break out that chocolate I hid in the office.

3. I’m having a love/hate relationship with Bloglovin‘s new design. I like the clean layout, but what happened to the arrow to take you back to the top? And why is the groups no longer in alphabetical order?

4. Pretty much everything on this list of 33 Gifts For Anyone Who Loves Cheese More Than People is on my Christmas wishlist.

5. In November, I read two mysteries by Keigo Higashino (Malice and Salvation of a Saint). Both were absolutely fantastic. Higashino has written a lot of novels, but it seems like most of them haven’t been translated to English yet.

6. Em and I went to see The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part 2 the other day. It was really good. I still think the movies are better than the books.

7. I have a new favourite tv show, Blindspot. Everyone needs to start watching it (it’s currently on mid-season break so you have time to catch up).
