August 2015 Book Report

THE SHORT VERSION: 13 books // 3969 pages

As in July, I didn’t quite read as much as usual this month. (I blame it all on the stress from the impending PhD defense). I read 13 books by 9 different authors. 8 of the books were audiobooks (6 of which were rereads) and one was a short story.

Best of the month were Someone to Watch Over Me by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, Beyond the Kingdoms by Chris Colfer, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling.

Someone to Watch Over Me is the fifth book about lawyer Thora Gudmundsdottir, and like all the previous books in the series, it’s an excellent psychological thriller.

I finally got Beyond the Kingdoms from the library. It’s the fourth book about twins Alex and Connor and their adventures in the Land of Stories. I love fairy tales and great re-tellings of fairy tales.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was, to no surprise, as good this time around. I’m a bit sad that I’m almost at the end of my Harry Potter rereading project.

I didn’t finish any books for the Popsugar Ultimate Reading Challenge this month. So far, I have read 34 of the 52 books.

I did finished 2 more books for Literary Ladies Summer Challenge. (Technically, I think I finished 3 because one of the audiobooks I listened to fits one of the categories I have left.)

I’ve read another 2 books by Nordic authors, and 5 of the 7 Narnia books for the Classics Challenge.

I couldn’t resist and bought 3 books, and I also got 12 books from the library (of which I’ve read 9 so far).

How’s your reading year going so far?
