All Roads Lead Home

Midsummer

This is the most summerish weekend of all summer. Today is Midsummer Eve and tomorrow is Midsummer Day. You’ve never heard of it?! It is one of all those awesome Swedish holidays (like Valborg) that once you’ve been introduced to it, you wonder how you ever survived without it. Midsummer might even be the best Swedish tradition of them all (but I say that of all of them, don’t I?).

Midsummer is a holiday devoted to eating (all the good stuff and all the weird stuff we avoid the rest of the year), drinking (accompanied by singing), and dancing (around the Midsummer pole/Maypole during the day, around the dance floor during the night).

This video from Sweden.se will tell you everything you need to know to make the most out of this splendid holiday.

Now excuse me, I need to find some friends who wants to join me in the park to sing and jump around like a frog. Anyone have an extra Midsummer pole we could borrow?
