My Brain is Mostly Song Lyrics

Top Ten Eurovision Songs 2015

May 19, 2015 | One comment

Normally, the theme for the Top Ten Tuesday list (hosted by The Broke and the Bookish) is literary related. This week is a freebie, with all participants choosing their own topics. Because it is Eurovision week (or one of the highlights of the year if you ask me) here’s my top ten favourite songs participating this year:

1. SWEDEN | Heroes performed by Måns Zelmerlöw
This is a great song (I’m not biased at all) and the show is one of the best we’ve had in years. I think Sweden actually have a chance to win this year.

2. ICELAND | Unbroken performed by Maria Olafs
Maria reminds me of Yohanna who performed Iceland’s song in 2009. I adore this song but I’m a bit worried it is in the same semi-final as Sweden (and they’re back to back). This one is also equally good in the original language (listen here).

3. ESTONIA | Goodbye To Yesterday performed by Elina Born & Stig Rästa
One of the predicted winners. There’s a lot of duets this year (and many of them are really bad). I’ve had this song stuck in my head since I heard it for the first time. Also, I think their voices go great together.

4. SPAIN | Amanecer performed by Edurne
Edurne has one kick-ass voice and I love that she sings in Spanish.

5. FYR MACEDONIA | Autumn Leaves performed by Daniel Kajmakoski
This songs has a great melody (with some spectacular parts) and very nice lyrics. I hope he is as good live as the studio recording.

6. AUSTRALIA | Tonight Again performed by Guy Sebastian
If they send songs as good as this one, I’d be happy to have Australia participate every year. I think this one will be a big hit, playing on the radio all summer long.

7. CYPRUS | One Thing I Should Have Done performed by John Karayiannis
Very nice, honest song. I really like it (I do have a soft spot for love songs).

8. ITALY | Grande Amore performed by Il Volo
Italian pop opera? Yes, please.

9. The Netherlands | Walk Along performed by Trijntje Oosterhuis
Not quite as good as last year’s song.

10. Slovenia | Here For You performed by Maraaya
Her voice stands out, and I like the beat.

Bonus: GEORGIA | Warrior performed by Nina Sublatti
I don’t mind this one, although I don’t love it, but I think it could be dangerous…

Are you watching the finale on Saturday? Which countries are your favourites? And most importantly, do you think Sweden will win?
