Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts #20

April 16, 2015 | 7 comments

1. I’m in Europe for 9 days! Vienna this week, and then I’m going to London this week, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m having a great time. I gave a talk at a conference earlier in the week (which always makes me extremely nervous) but everything worked out perfectly.

2. Traveling for about 30 hours (and dealing with the jet lag for 12 hours time change) was awful, but it so worth it.

3. The best thing about this week is that I get to see friends I haven’t seen in a long time.

4. I finally broke my book-bying-ban and picked up a paperback for the flight from Honolulu to Vienna: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I started reading it once before, but gave up after a few chapters. I’m so glad I gave it another chance, because it was brilliant! Now I want to watch the movie to see how they dealt with all the twists and turns.

5. I’ve also started reading Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. It’s been on my tbr list for a long time, but it’s going a bit slow and I’m not loving it so far.
