Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts #13

January 14, 2015 | 9 comments

1. I finally went through all my reading stats for last year, and although I succeeded in my goal of reading more books in Swedish and by Nordic authors, I apparently forgot all about my British favourites. I only read 6 books by British authors. This year my goal will be to read more Nordic and British books.

2. I have a soft spot for infographics. Compound Interest has long been one of my favourite time-wasting guilty pleasures and I just discovered Daily Infographic. If I don’t get any work done this year, these two sites are to blame.

3. I’m clearly terrible at reading non fiction. I read one last year! The good thing is that it shouldn’t be too difficult to surpass that this year, especially since I started the year by reading Neil Patrick Harris’ autobiography. I thought some of the chapters could have been deleted, but some parts of the book were pure magic.

4. It’s no secret that I’m a big musical theater geek and I love when great musicals are made to almost equally great movie adaptions (because nothing is ever as good as seeing a show live). I’m still over the moon with the recent release of Into the Woods with the amazing Anna Kendrick. Later this spring, The Last 5 Years (also starring Kendrick) will premiere, and now there are rumours that Wicked might be made into a movie next year. Yes, please!

5. One of my favourite musicians, Joshua Radin, released a new album (Onward and Sideways) last week and it’s so good. I have a feeling 2015 is gonna be a great music year.

6. Next Friday I’m going to see the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra’s Disney in Concert with two friends. I won’t lie, I’m pretty excited about it.

7. I came across this the other day: ultra-condensed classic books. I could finish the classics challenge in no time… :)
