So you think you can dance?

No. Actually, I’m fully aware I cannot dance. Except when I am home alone. Then I dance really well. (Just as I sing really good in the shower.)

But I do love to watch people that can dance. Not the random-mass-moving while avoiding getting it in the back by the rest of said mass, but the greater-than-life-dance as-an-artform dance. Contemporary. And ballet. So it is probably not a surprise that I also love tv shows about dance (not quite as much as actually seeing dance live but it is a lot cheaper than tickets to the ballet). So You Think You Can Dance is one of my favourites. Unfortunately, they insists on scheduling the season over the summer while I am out working in areas without any tv for months at a time. I got the see the auditions right before leaving, and then I got back in time for the finale. Bad planning.

I had one favourite from the auditions this year – Amy Yakima – and I was happy to realize that she had made it this far. I hope she wins.

Another of my all time favourites is Travis Wall, who is not only an amazing dancer but an equally amazing choreographer, so when I saw that he had choreographed a piece for Amy, and danced it with her, I was overjoyed. It is one of the most beautiful dances I have seen in a long time.
