Couch Potato

Top Ten Summer TV Shows

June 12, 2014 | 2 comments

Summer is here and that means summer TV season. Unfortunately, my couch potato career has to take a break over the summer while I travel and are outside enjoying the summer weather (European summer weather is something I enjoy much more than the all-year-round summer we have in Hawaii). The shows I’m most excited about catching up on when I get back home in August are (in no particular order):

1. Graceland
Drama about a group of undercover agents from different law enforcement agencies live together in a beach house known as Graceland. Season 2 started yesterday.

2. Rookie Blue
Canadian police drama set in Toronto, following a group of new police officers through their first few years on the force. Season 5 starts on June 19.

3. Night Shift
New medical drama (premiered May 27) about the doctors and nurses working the night shift at the ER at San Antonio Medical Center.

4. Major Crimes
Drama series following the Major Crimes Division under the lead of Captain Sharon Raydor. Season 3 started Monday.

5. So You Think You Can Dance
Reality show where the contestants compete in a range of different styles of dance. Season 11 started on May 28.

6. Chasing Life
New drama about newspaper reporter April who finds out that she has cancer. Premiered Tuesday.

7. Under the Dome
Based on a Stephen King novel, this science fiction series is about the people in a small town in Maine that is cut off from the outside world by an invisible dome. Season 2 starts on June 30.

8. Unforgettable
Crime series about detective Carrie Wells who has hyperthymesia, a rare medical condition that causes her to remember everything. Season 3 starts on June 29.

9. Outlander
Maybe not technically part of the summer season, this drama (based on the novel by Diana Gabaldon) about nurse Claire Randall who travels back through time and meets highlander Jamie Fraser will premier on August 9.

10. Haven
Also not part of the summer season, this drama (loosely based on the Stephen King novel The Colorado Kid) about a small town in Maine, and the troubled people living there, will return for a fifth season sometime late summer or early fall.

What are your favourite shows of the summer season?
