Book vs Film: Lady Susan / Love & Friendship

October 4, 2016 | 4 comments

I’m taking a page from Kate’s book and comparing books and their film counterparts.

I read the book Lady Susan by Jane Austen (originally published in 1871) BEFORE seeing the film Love & Friendship (premiered 2016).

FILM over book, because:

1. It highlights all the things I love about Austen.

2. The costumes (those hats and dresses).

3. Kate Beckinsale is absolutely fabulous as Lady Susan.

4. Stephen Fry is perfect as Mr. Johnson.

5. The book was quite boring, whereas the film has lots of hilarious moments.
